Facebook Waste of Time or a Useful
Facebook is a social networking service and the website was launched in February 2004. The founders of Facebook are Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Severin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskowitz, and Chris Hughes. As of July 2011, Facebook has over 750 million active users.
Users can create personal profiles, add other users and friends, and exchange messages, including automatic notifications when they update their profile. Facebook users must register before using the website. Additionally, users can join user groups of common interest based on workplace or school or college or other characteristics.
One of the most popular applications on Facebook is the Photos application, where users can upload an unlimited number of photos and albums. Privacy settings can be set for individual albums, limiting the groups of users that can see an album. Another feature of the photo application is the ability to “tag” or label users in a photo.
For instance, if a photo contains a user’s friend then the user can tag the friend in the photo. This sends a notification to the friend that they have been tagged. Facebook also launched gifts on February 8, 2007, which allows users to send virtual gifts to their friends that appear on the recipient’s profile.
In February 2011, Facebook began to use the calendar microformat to mark up events which enables the extraction of the details to the user’s calendar or mapping applications. Since April 2011 users could make live voice calls via Facebook Chat, allowing the users to chat with others from all over the world.
Countless hours are wasted each day scrolling through Facebook comments or checking the notice board for a new friend request. The rise of online social networking services such as Facebook or Twitter is time-consuming. People become accustomed to using Facebook to find comments from others, posting comments with the hope of being liked by others. They spend hours on Facebook just checking comments or adding new comments.
Facebook is now littered with thousands of junk applications and uninteresting cell phone photos. Using the mapping application, people upload some of the silliest incidents of their daily activities such as “I’m going to take a shower now.” “Which nail polish color is right for you?” or “Who were you in your past life”? Facebook is also known for its ability to act as an online photo album where friends and family can view vacation photos and leave little comments, but this user seems to be overused. Is.
Different facial expressions. Some people upload clips of their antics. Not only do people feel the need to fill albums with cell phone pictures of their faces, but they also take as many pictures of everyday life as they can. 100 pictures of you and your friends laughing while walking down the street just to show that they have friends. Similarities to others only show that they have socialized with many people around the world. Honestly, nobody cares about these albums or video clips.
Time is considered money, if time is not used wisely, the consequences are never good. Facebook and other social networking websites have become more than just connections with people. They have accumulated Farmville, Mafia Wars, and many other games to keep users entertained. In these games, the users play, for virtual money often spending many hours each day.
If used right, the website can connect users with people of the same interest, thus building a name for a person if he or she is a writer. If people use Facebook rightly it is a useful tool for making not only social contact with people of the same interests but also a useful tool for sharing and improving knowledge.
