Tiranga
1. The Tricolour (Tiranga) is the National Flag of India.
2. It is a horizontal tricolor of deep saffron (Kesari) at the top, white in the middle, and dark green at the bottom in equal proportion.
3. In the center of the white band is a navy blue wheel that has 24 spokes.
4. The saffron color indicates the strength and courage of the country.
5. The white middle band, indicates peace and truth.
6. The green band shows the fertility, growth, and auspiciousness of the land.
7. The chakra shows that there is life in movement and death in stagnation.
8. The ratio of the length of the flag to its width is 3:2.
9. The diameter of the chakra approximates the width of the white band.
10. The design of the national flag was adopted by the Constituent Assembly of India on 22 July 1947.
11. The National Flag of India was designed by Pingali Venkayya, an agriculturist and Indian freedom fighter.
12. The flag, by law, is to be made of khadi, a special type of hand-spun cloth of cotton or silk made popular by Mahatma Gandhi.
13. The right to manufacture the national flag of India is held by the Khadi Development and Village Industries Commission, which in turn allocates it to the regional groups.
14. The National Flag of India has to be hoisted in daylight between sunrise and sunset.
15. It has to be hoisted in the horizontal direction with the saffron color on the top.
16. No other flag or any symbolic representation should be above it.
17. The National Flag or its look-alike in any form must not be used for trade, cloth wear, cover, etc.
